Kevin Bowring
As a winner of the prestigious Dyson Award for his services to coaching and coach development, Kevin is no stranger to sports coach UK. His background as an elite coach is based not only on his experience of playing rugby, but on a solid foundation of Physical Education. Kevin taught PE for 17 years including nine years as Director of PE and Head of Games at Clifton College, Bristol.
Kevin combined his teaching career with playing and coaching rugby to the highest level. As a player he was captain of London Welsh RFC for three seasons and played for the Barbarians. His coaching career started with coaching the Welsh Rugby Union’s Under-20 team in 1989. He progressed through the WRU coaching system, taking charge of Wales Under-21 and Wales ‘A’. He was appointed as Wales National Coach in November 1995 - the first full time National Coach in the professional era - and prepared the Welsh team for nearly 30 international matches.
As a senior lecturer at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, Kevin was involved in the delivery of the Sports Coaching degree and training PGCE students to become PE teachers. Kevin is currently employed as Head of Elite Coach Development for the Rugby Football Union and works in the Elite Rugby Department where he is responsible for the continuous professional development and on-going learning of professional rugby coaches operating in the elite game in England.
Ben Langdon
After graduating from Oxford Ben went into advertising with a number of planning and account management roles, before he was appointed CEO of the well-known agency Collett Dickenson Pearce at the age of 28.
He was headhunted by McCann-Erickson moving up through the organisation with appointments as UK Chairman; European President of Universal McCann; and EMEA Regional Director for McCann-Erickson World Group. From McCann, Ben became UK Chairman of Euro RSCG and then formed Digital Marketing Group in 2005, launching it on the Stock Exchange in 2006. Ben was voted No 1 in the UKs 'Power 100' for digital direct marketing professionals and was shortlisted for 'Entrepreneur of the Year'. Ben left Digital Marketing Group in April 2011 to form his own consulting firm, Tradigital, which consults for digital, technology and creative businesses.
In his spare time, Ben is a marathon runner, golfer and a cricket and football enthusiast. He travelled to watch England win the Ashes in Australia, has run seven marathons at home and overseas, and follows Wycombe Wanderers FC across the UK. From his experience as a coach and referee for both football and cricket, Ben has observed the positive impact that good coaching and sports participation can have on local communities. He firmly believes that good coaching is essential for those participants in sport who simply want to have fun.
